DEAN LYNESS HEADS ON LOAN TO BLACKPOOL

12 November 2015

GOALKEEPER Dean Lyness has joined fellow league one side Blackpool on loan until January 2nd 2016.

The move comes almost a year to the day that he broke his leg in Hasselbaink’s first session in charge as Burton Albion manager.

Dean is now in his fourth season with the club having signed from Conference side Kidderminster Harriers in 2012.

He originally came through the Birmingham City Academy but left to join Heart of Midlothian in the SPL without making a first team appearance for the Blues. Dean also had a loan spell with East Fife whilst in Scotland before returning to England and making his senior debut for Harriers and attracting the attention of Albion who offered him the chance to return to the Football League.

Opportunities have been limited since Hasselbaink’s arrival on 13th November last year due to injury but previous to this, Lyness kept a clean sheet in 37% of his games for Burton Albion.

Speaking on his move, Dean Lyness said “It has been a long road to recovery but I am delighted that an opportunity has come out now.

“As I said it has been a long year making to wait a first team appearance and hopefully I’ll get to do that on Saturday, I’ll be delighted.

“Personally I am trying to get back on the pitch and play regularly, that’s a massive opportunity I’ve been working hard to get back to.

“Obviously if you’re playing then you have always got a chance to impress. I have been injured but when I have come back the boys have been flying and winning games week-in week-out.

“I’ll be buzzing to get back on the pitch again and if I can keep clean sheets then I’ll be doing my job.”
