BURTON Albion have been without a chunk of their squad for a large period of time this season.
Loan signings have struggles with injuries. Rielly lasted not even 20 minutes on his Brewers debut before he was substitutes off with calf difficulties.It was confirmed this morning that Reilly has returned to his parent club for treatment and it doesn’t look as though he will be returning.
Hasselbaink told burtonalbiofnc.co.uk “He has gone back unfortunately. Unfortunately he had a grade two tear and unfortunately he is going to be four weeks at least so unfortunately he has had to go back.”
Hasselbaink admits his squad still aren’t there with injuries yet but is pleased to be getting players back this week.
“Squad wise we are still not there yet, where we want to be but we are getting players back.”
Jacob Blyth has been out for six weeks since joining from Leicester on loan and becoming a key part of the Brewers line up under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
He was unfortunate to pull his hamstring in the final seconds with the away win against Cheltenham Town but fingers crossed, he will be back with the squad on Friday.
“We should this week be getting Jacob Blyth back fingers crossed.
“He is training today with the group at Leicester than hopefully tomorrow he will join us.”
Just as Maynard was getting into the swing of things in England under his former boss, he has been struck with injury also, this time his hip. He has suffered a few set-backs after being eager to get back into training.
“We should get back as well Kelvin Maynard one of these days.
“So two for now but hopefully after Monday, one or two more.”
Although at least five or six players have been out at a time, the Brewers have found results comfortable in recent weeks without letting injuries get the better of the squad.
The Dutch manager admits that although results have gone their way in recent weeks, it would be nice to get more bodies back which would prove handy for the squad with all the matches coming up over the Easter period.
“Everybody that can come back or will come back is obviously very important and very handy for the squad especially if you’re getting lots of matches to play.
“You will need options, you will need to freshen people as well because the Easter period is as we all know a very important and very hard period.”
