MASCOT FLIES IN FROM CANADA TO BACK BREWERS

7 September 2015

BURTON Albion mascot Will Antoniuk travelled all the way from Canada to lead out the Brewers as they took on Coventry in front of the Sky cameras.

The 11-year-old started supporting the Brewers after playing FIFA 2015 on his Wii console and adopting Burton Albion as his favourite side.

But he never dreamed that he would one day be a matchday mascot at the Pirelli Stadium.

But his parents made it a special birthday treat when they flew him to the UK from the family home in Calgary so he could be a mascot for the day.

He says: "It was a big surprise but when I had my birthday in June they told me about it.

"We have been staying at St George's Park and it has been lots of fun."

Will's favourite players are Phil Edwards and Lucas Akins and he thinks the Brewers will do well in League One.

I think we will make the play offs," he says.

He has ambitions of being a professional footballer himself.

"I have been training at Everton," he says. "I don't know yet but being a footballer would be fun."
