MATTY PALMER MAKES A LOAN MOVE

22 January 2016

MATTY Palmer has joined fellow League One side Oldham Athletic on a youth loan until February 27th 2016.

Palmer came through the youth ranks at Burton Albion and won his first team squad number whilst still a second year scholar in the 2012–13 season at the age of 17.

He made his debut as a late substitute for Jacques Maghoma in the FA Cup on 15 November 2012, in a 2–0 win over Altrincham at Moss Lane. He made his League Two debut on 5 April 2013, coming on for Lee Bell 79 minutes into a 7–1 defeat to Port Vale at Vale Park.

Palmer's first professional goal came in a 2–0 home win over Hereford United in the first round of the FA Cup on 10 November 2013.

The midfielder has made 13 appearances this season scoring one goal which came in the Capital One Cup against Bolton to send the Brewers through to the next round.

Nigel Clough said: "He has only started two league games out of 25 and the midfield is an area where we are strong in.

"It's an ideal opportunity available for him to go and play some football.

"With John Sheridan being their manager we know that Matty will get on the ball with his style of play.

"Oldham have got Peterborough and Wigan coming up so we hope he can help them get the result we want."
