MOUSINHO ADMITS THE BREWERS WERE GETTING FRUSTRATED

1 April 2015

The Brewers had the chance to make further history in their own books when Stevenage came to town.

Five wins on the bounce could have overwritten the previous record (four) if the Brewers had beaten play-off chasing Stevenage, but they were held to a draw.

Captain John Mousinho said “The fans were getting frustrated and I think we were getting frustrated with ourselves with the way we were playing.

“We tried to overplay in the middle of the park when we didn’t need to.

“Lisbie got in behind our back line a couple of times and they were looking quite effective.”

It really was a game of two halves, excuse the cliché. The first half, Stevenage dominated the game and took the lead when Tom Naylor headed into the back of his own net from a Stevenage corner. The Brewers went in to the break after yet another own goal, this time from Dembele after he turned in Mousinho’s header.

Albion came out very strong in the second half and their performance left you wondering what the outcome could have been had the pitch been in its usual condition. The Brewers have had to turn results around a few times under the new boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink so a turnaround didn’t look unlikely.

“I think the important thing is that we got in at half time and we reacted brilliantly.

“I was a spectator for much of the second half, I really didn’t have a lot to do and that is credit to the way the lads went out and played, the only we missed was a finish.”

No team has scored more than one goal in the same game against Hasselbaink’s men and that record continued. Captain Mousinho praised his team mates winning mentality but admits they may have crossed the confidence line.

“We have a good mentality when we come out but I think we were maybe too much within ourselves or we weren’t confident enough.

“There is a fine line between being arrogant and confident and we just need to find that as we are looking to keep our feet firmly on the ground with the run in.”
