MATCH PREVIEW | PORTSMOUTH (A)

7 February 2022

Burton Albion will make the trip to the south coast to take on Portsmouth in some midweek Sky Bet League One action tomorrow night at Fratton Park (7.45 kick-off).

FORM GUIDE

The Brewers will be looking for an immediate reaction to Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Albion are yet to lose away from home in 2022 and will look to continue that on the south coast tomorrow night.

Portsmouth come into the game looking to end a run that sees them without a win in six games. Pompey’s last match was an agonising 3-2 defeat away at Oxford United, giving up a 2-1 lead with eight minutes of normal time to play.

HEAD 2 HEAD

The two sides share an identical record in competitive meetings since the Brewers were promoted to the EFL. The teams have faced off 10 times, with three wins each. The other four games ended in a draw.

The last time the Brewers met Pompey was in the reverse fixture this season back in September. Goals from Daniel Jebbison and Tom O’Connor ensured a 2-1 win for Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

BREWERS TEAM NEWS

Deji Oshilaja is more than likely unavailable for tomorrow’s fixture. Sam Hughes and John Brayford are also listed as doubtful for tomorrow night.

PORTSMOUTH TEAM NEWS

Pompey could be without multiple first team players for tomorrow. Mahlon Romeo, Shaun Williams, Kieron Freeman are all unlikely to feature due to injury, while Joe Morrell will be unavailable due to suspension after receiving a red card at Oxford United.

MATCH OFFICIALS

The referee for tomorrow night will be Craig Hicks, who will be assisted by Darren Blunden and Damith Bandara. The Fourth Official at Fratton Park will be Sunny Gill.
